Yesterday was a very sad day for me and was somewhat of a set back emotionally.  Unfortunately a fatal helicopter crash claimed the lives of Kobe Bryant, his 13 year old daughter and seven other passengers.  Mothers lost their children, husbands and wives lost their spouse’s and many lost friends. Life as what they knew it to be will no longer be the same.

I was a huge Lakers fan before Kobe joined the team, however he changed the game for me and made me love basketball even more.  As the story unfolded and names of the other passengers were released reality set in. Nine people lost their lives, three of which were children, on their way to basketball practice.

I found it hard to sleep through the night, my heart so heavy for their families.  I’ve lost a child and both parents but not all at once. There’s now families preparing to lay their loved ones to rest, some of those families will be making arrangements for multiple family members. Heartbroken is an understatement as there are lives that has been forever changed and they must now learn to adapt to a whole new life.

Just when you think that things can’t get worse in your life, we are reminded by such tragedies that it could always be worse.  Life is too short to be anything but happy.  Keep your family close and love on them more and more each day. Never take life or those that mean the most to you for granted because things can change in the blink of an eye. In the world in which live, returning home safely to our families at the end of every day is a major blessing.

I pray for the strength of all the families affected and may God provide them with comfort as I know this will be one the hardest things they will ever face in life. I pray that they all will one day get to a place of finding solace in knowing that they will all be together again one day.

Psalm 147:3

“He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds”
