I am a foodie and I absolutely love to eat!  Believe me when I tell you that  I had to reprogram my eating habits in hopes of it helping with my anxiety and it worked.

In doing research I discovered that drinks and foods high in sugar should definitely be avoided as much as possible to help eliminate anxiety. High intake of caffeine is also unhealthy and this was especially hard to cut back for me because my two favorite drinks are Pepsi and coffee.

I began training myself to substitute my coffee with green tea every other day and I go for hot lemon tea which most has no caffeine in the evening if I began to crave coffee. Chamomile tea is great for relaxing because it contains high amounts of antioxidants which has been proven to reduce inflammation which may decrease the risk of anxiety.

Avocados, oatmeal, oranges and leafy greens are also great foods to help lower stress.  I now like juicing about three times per week and I typically use spinach, avocados, blueberries and about a teaspoon of plain Greek yogurt.

It’s all in moderation because for the most part I still enjoy the things  I like but am more mindful of the amounts. I usually allow myself a day or two out of each week to have that Pepsi or have a bowl of ice cream to not slight myself too much from some of life’s guilty pleasures.

I now prefer my coffee black with a sprinkle of cinnamon powder in substitute of cream and sugar.  Cinnamon is a great source of antioxidants, helps reduce clotting and also improves the health of your heart. I also stepped up my water intake and now water with lemon happens to be my favorite drink.
